Come celebrate, participate, and cheer on runners during the 25th annual New Hampshire Marathon, Saturday, September 30, 2017.
This is one of the most popular runs in the area. One big reason why is it’s pretty route: through charming small towns, along country roads at peak leaf-peeping season, and by the shore of pristine Newfound Lake. Even those who’d never think of tying on running shoes love this event!
The Marathon day actually includes several races—Marathon, Half-Marathon, 10K and Kids’ events—pulling in a multitude of age groups and abilities. And it’s all for a great cause: supporting area child-related organizations. A total of $245,000 has been donated over the past 24 years.
The New Hampshire Marathon, which is certified by the USATF and a qualifying race for the Boston Marathon, attracts runners from 45 states and 10 foreign countries. All three adult races begin at 9:00 a.m. Maps of individual routes are available on the NH Marathon website. Late-comers can register the day of the event, though the fees will be $10 higher per race.
The Kids Race is a free event for those in K through 8th grade. Parents are encouraged to join in the fun and run with their children prior to this day, logging 25.2 miles, and then participate in this race to complete the final mile. It’s a great way to get the whole family involved!
