Cardigan Mountain Store is truly a community store, not just because it’s here in our town of Bristol, but because it involves so many local folks. The store was opened the store in 2013 by the owners of Cardigan Mountain Orchard, one of our area’s quality farms.
The store has become a favorite local resource, and like country stores of old, it is filled with a bit of everything. You’ll find fresh produce from local farmers, maple syrup and homemade jams, specialty cheeses, and other food items, including Cardigan Mountain Orchard’s apples and cider. There is also a wonderfully eclectic selection of artisan goods, such as soaps and lotions, beadwork, pottery, photographs, folk art items—the list goes on! With the holidays just around the corner, this is a great time to poke around the shelves of Cardigan Country Store for stocking stuffers and little one-of-a-kind gifts.
If you catch a whiff of cinnamon when you enter the store, it may be fresh-baked apple cider doughnuts from the little Country Cafe. Open in May, 2017, the cafe serves delicious salad and sandwiches, as well as several breakfast dishes.
