New Hampshire’s Mill Fudge Factory: One Sweet Stop

It’s a bit dangerous having The Mill Fudge Factory located so close to the B&B! The local favorite in downtown Bristol, New Hampshire, is a great place to stop, shop, and eat.

The Mill Fudge Factory, housed in a charming 1700’s gristmill overlooking Newfound River, makes yummy handcrafted, small batch fudge following a traditional Scottish family recipe. The recipe is an adaptation of a not-to-sweet, buttery concoction the owner’s father made back in Scotland.

Penuche, a rich and smooth caramel fudge is most reminiscent of the original Scottish recipe. The company uses only fresh, natural ingredients for their fudges, which come in eight delicious classic flavors that include chocolate varieties, peanut butter, and pure New Hampshire maple fudge. The Mill Fudge Factory also has specialty flavors, most notably ones made with real liquor. Scottish Whiskey Fudge blends sweet with the warm spiciness of a good Scotch, while Cabin Fever Maple Whiskey Fudge uses a local whiskey and syrup for its unique rich and smooth flavor.

You can taste all of these—and buy 8 ounce slices—at The Mill Fudge Factory’s Ice Cream Cafe. In addition to fudge, try a scoop or two of the company’s delicious homemade ice creams, with or without homemade fudge sauce. The café menu also includes Panini sandwiches, salads, espresso drinks, wine, and beer.
